Bagpuss was the saggy old cloth cat toy that lived in the window of a most unusual shop. Each week Emily brought Bagpuss objects to mend and repair. With a yawn, Bagpuss would wake up and examine them, along with his friends - including Madeleine the rag doll, Gabriel the banjo-playing toad, the mice from the Marvellous Mechanical Mouse Organ and wise old Professor Yaffle - the carved wooden WoodPecker bookend.

Bagpuss was created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin - the same team responsible for The Clangers and Ivor the Engine. Only 13 episodes of Bagpuss were ever made, even though it was on air for 26 weeks a year over 13 years.

We used to watch Bagpuss when we were kids but don't remember any of the episodes except the one with the chocolate biscuit making machine. After listening to this CD a lot of the songs actually seemed strangely familiar - it's even got the mice's mending song!
