Battle of Britain, released in 1969 and starring Harry Andrews, Michael Caine and Trevor Howard, tells the story of the air battle in the skies over England in the summer of 1940. The vastly outnumbered RAF managed to soundly defeat Hitler's Luftwaffe, which was bombing London as the demoralizing and destabilizing precursor to a planned invasion of the UK (code name Operation Sea Lion).

Originally, revered British composer Sir William Walton was commissioned to score the film. The producers, however, rejected it at the last minute (for reasons which can be found in the CD booklet) and Ron Goodwin (who'd previously scored 633 Squadron and Where Eagles Dare) wrote a new score that was used in the film.

This new release contains Ron Goodwin's score and also the rejected score by Sir William Walton.
